what is karate

Karate is popular around the world
…for good reason

It’s a great way to exercise, learn self-defense, and respect yourself and others. Karate is not just a sport, but also a lifestyle. It is a martial art that teaches you the philosophy of life, and how to stay fit, healthy, and safe.

Karate makes you strong by developing your physical body and gives you self-confidence by improving your focus on every aspect of your life – school, work, family, and leisure activities. By studying Karate at Premier Martial Arts, you’ll learn our blended curriculum of Martial Arts styles including Karate, Jiu Jitsu, and Taekwondo. You’ll know how to control your body so that it moves exactly the way you want it to, even under stress or pressure.

Benefits of Karate

INCREASED ATTENTION SPAN AND FOCUS

Students will begin by keeping their eyes focused on the eyes of the people speaking to them. They will begin paying more attention to their teachers and for longer periods of time, therefore hearing and learning more. Focus is like a muscle, the more you use it, the better and stronger it gets. With martial arts training at Premier Martial Arts, we train muscles and minds.

INCREASED FITNESS AND WEIGHT LOSS

Strength, Conditioning, Flexibility and Weight Loss are all benefits that you can expect to receive with martial arts training at Premier Martial Arts. Every muscle group is strengthened and defined with the exercises, movements, techniques, and training drills that are incorporated into our curriculum.

SELF DISCIPLINE

Getting a child to do what they are told can be challenging enough, and our program will develop respectful disciplined kids, but more important is getting a child to do what they are not told. Developing self-discipline in children means they have the knowledge to know what they should do, and they do it! This trait will be invaluable as they grow into successful teens and adults.

CONFIDENCE GROWTH

A confident child is a happy child. And a confident adult is a happy adult. No longer live in anxiety or fear. Confidence is the first step to success in all areas of life. Once confidence is developed, the instructors at our studio can now begin getting a student to perform at a level that was once un-thought of for them.

Children’s Karate

We specialize in kids’ Karate programs and parents love the benefits of having their children practice Karate. Martial Arts is not a team sport, the only person that a child is competing with is “Themselves”.

Kids come to us from ages 3 and up, some are in shape, while others are overweight. Some come for confidence, fitness and others for fun. Each child is treated equally, and is trained to the best of their own ability and potential. A child is never compared to anyone else.

At Premier Martial Arts our instructors are there to guide, instruct, and motivate your kid to be the best that they can be.

MARTIAL ARTS
INCREASES FOCUS AND CONCENTRATION

“I can’t believe this difference in Brandon. His teacher actually noticed it first. His ability to focus and pay attention to her increased so much that she called me wanting to know what was going on? I told her the only difference that I could think of was he began martial arts training at Premier Martial Arts. She said to keep up the training because it was making a huge difference. When I saw his report card, I agreed!”

MARTIAL ARTS
TRAINING DEVELOPS CONFIDENCE IN KIDS!

“We wanted to take a few moments and let the staff know just how amazing, professional, and caring they are. Both of our children are enrolled at the studio and we are so impressed with their training. Our daughter Camden was showing a real lack of confidence. After only a few months of training at Shaolin she is more outgoing and her confidence is really growing. Last week he got up in front of his class at school to volunteer for a presentation, she would have never done this before. When we first enrolled at Premier, we were considering another martial arts school because they were a little cheaper, what a mistake that would have been! We are thankful for the instructors, they truly are great role-models for our children.”

MARTIAL ARTS
INCREASES ATTENTION SPAN

“When my son was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), our doctor recommend martial arts instruction as a method to increase his focus, concentration, and provide a structured environment that would give him a physical and mental outlet. I was speaking to his teacher at school about this situation and she had heard that another parent had enrolled her child in Karate for the same reason. Enrolling my child in Martial Arts was the best thing I could have done. Their instruction has made a huge difference in our child- he has been receiving A’s in conduct and even made the last honor roll. I am a single working mom and I can use all the help I can get! I sincerely thank the instructors and owner of Premier Martial Arts.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I know my child will have fun, but they have quit other activities before. How can we keep them from quitting?
As long as a parent makes and keeps the commitment of making sure their child attends class once or twice per week, children will learn and excel in their training. Kids that train consistently will progress in martial arts and should have no problem reaching the life-changing goal of black belt.
Is martial art training good exercise if my child needs to lose weight?
Martial arts is great exercise for kids. Martial arts training, combined with a sensible diet, can transform a child’s physical and overall health. Kids that feel good about themselves are children that develop strong confidence and self esteem — which they can carry over in all aspects of life in the future.
What are the chances that my child could get hurt doing martial arts?
Your child’s safety is our main concern. We use padded safety gear, abide by strict safety rules and regulation for instructors and students, use padded safety weapons and even have high-tech padded floors — all for the safety of our students.
Will martial arts training make my child aggressive to others?
No way! As a matter of fact, we are careful to teach our students to use common sense before self defense. Kids are taught to make smart decisions when it comes to self defense from the first day of class. They will know when it is the right time to use what they have been taught.
My child has never been good at sports; can they do this?
Every child has what it takes to be good at martial arts, because in martial arts they are not competing or comparing themselves with anyone. Martial arts are more than just punching and kicking. Character development training is just as important as punching and kicking. Once we develop a child’s confidence, they can achieve anything they set their mind to.
Is my child too young for martial arts training?
At Premier Martial Arts, we are experts at teaching martial arts. We have programs specially designed for ages 3 to 4, 5 to 7, 8 to 12, teens, and adults. Our instructors are trained to bring out the best in our students’ performance at any age. However, please note that ages 3 to 4 classes are not offered at all studios.
